SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine - Gov. Paul LePage has awarded eight Maine companies for their commitment to their employees and communities.

The Republican governor handed out the 24th annual Governor's Award for Business Excellence to each of the winners on Friday at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland.

LePage says the companies represent the "best of the best'' in Maine.
