19 Maine Workers Died From Work-Related Injuries in 2013

AUGUSTA, Maine - A new report says that 19 Maine workers died from occupational or work-related injuries in 2013.

The preliminary report from the Bureau of Labor Standards says that the state's fatality rate was 3.2 per 100,000 workers, compared to a national rate of 3.4 per 100,000 workers.

The Maine Department of Labor says that the state's fatality rate was down 1 percentage point from 2012.

In 2013, all of the workers who died were men and transportation accidents were the most common cause of death.

Republican Gov. Paul LePage says in a statement that the report will help policy makers and businesses make safety improvements to protect workers.
