PORTLAND, Maine - Gas prices are up in Maine, and around the country.
Greg Laskosky, with the price-tracking site GasBuddy, says gas prices in Maine jumped an average of 2.7 cents a gallon in the past week.
He says the price hikes are largely due to the fact that crude prices are up, and that the East Coast has been seeing some supply issues in the last few weeks, including pipeline problems and Hurricane Matthew.
"We're still in better shape than we were a year ago, even with the increase," Laskosky says. "Today's national average is 6 cents less than where we were a year ago, and in Maine the statewide average is 2 cents less than where it was a year ago, at $2.25."
