Jury Hears Tape of Defendant in Social Media Killing Trial

BANGOR, Maine — A Maine jury is listening to the tape of a detective interviewing a 21-year-old man who is accused of using Facebook to lure, kidnap and kill a teenager.

State police detective Jay Pelletier is playing the tape of his interview with Kyle Dube, who is charged with killing Nichole Cable of Glenburn. The tape is from May 15, 2013, after Cable disappeared and before her body was found. The interview includes Dube's statement that he had no idea where Cable could be. He says their relationship prior to the disappearance "wasn't anything serious."

WABI-TV reports recent testimony in the trial is focusing on evidence collected by police and the search for Cable's body. The trial began Monday and is expected to last two weeks.
