Livermore Falls Man Dies Days After Being Struck

LIVERMORE FALLS, Maine (AP) _ Police say an 82-year-old Livermore Falls man struck by a car as he walked across a street in town earlier this month has died.

Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. says Richard McCrillis died Wednesday, 10 days after he was struck while in a crosswalk on Depot Street on June 1.

McCrillis' niece, Linda Deane, tells the Sun Journal  that her uncle died a day after he was moved from Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston to The Hospice House of Androscoggin County in Auburn. She says he died of injuries sustained when he was struck, including a broken neck.

The 57-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle that struck McCrillis told police that she did not see him until it was too late.

    The accident remains under investigation.
