BAR HARBOR, Maine — The Coast Guard says the National Park Service is overseeing final salvage operations and debris removal in the wake of the sinking of a boat off of Acadia National Park.
The Coast Guard says Wednesday that the main diesel engine of the RV Tiger Shark and all potential environmental hazards have been removed successfully.
A commercial salvage company removed all of the diesel fuel and batteries from the vessel, and no further pollution has occurred.
The Tiger Shark began taking on water Tuesday, about a half mile from Thunder Hole. The only occupant of the 50-foot charter fishing boat escaped injury. The Coast Guard says it is still investigating the cause of the incident.
