Sanford Voters OK Most Expensive School in Maine History

SANFORD, Maine - Voters in a Maine city approved a $100.2 million school construction project that official say is the most expensive in the history of the state.

The Portland Press Herald reports Sanford voters approved the high school and technical center on Tuesday. State funds will pay for most of the project. Sanford taxpayers will pay about $10.6 million. The school project will be on a 127-acre parcel between Main Street and Route 4.

The high school and technical center will be ready for students in September 2018 if everything goes smoothly. The campus will include an 830-seat performing arts center and a synthetic turf athletic field.
