Maine High School Track Star to Testify Before Senate Panel

CASCO, Maine - A record-breaking long jumper from Maine is heading to Washington to talk to senators about what it's like to live with diabetes.

Kate Hall, a recent graduate of Lake Region High School, will testify before the Senate Aging Committee on Wednesday. Hall recently broke a 39-year-old national high school long jump record and suffers from Type 1 diabetes.

The committee is led by Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins and is examining advancements in medicine and technology that help people who are living with the disease.

Others expected to testify on Wednesday include Isabelle Levesque, a 10-year-old from Arundel, who also suffers from Type 1 diabetes.
