Budget Amendments Would Save Portland Health Clinic

PORTLAND, Maine - The Portland City Council will consider budget amendments designed to keep most of the services offered by a public health clinic that was slated for closure.

The council is set to vote on a proposed $236 million budget on Monday. The city manager's original proposal would've closed the clinic on India Street and moved its patients to the Portland Community Health Center.

The plan to close the clinic led to rallies and marches opposing the move. WCSH-TV reports that the proposed amendments to keep the services do not appear to have any opposition according to one council member.
