PRESQUE ISLE, Maine - The interim president of Maine's public university in Presque Isle will stay on board until the summer of 2018.
University of Maine System Chancellor James H. Page says he and the system's board of trustees have extended the appointment of Raymond Rice as interim president of the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Rice became interim president in July when Linda Schott took a job leading Southern Oregon University. He has been a member of the faculty at the Presque Isle university for 19 years.
Rice will also continue serving as the campus provost. He took on a salary $140,000 when he became interim president of the university.
The university is located in northern Maine and has about 1,600 students.
