AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine's Nov. 7 ballot will include a special election to fill a House seat left open when a lawmaker died.
First-term Rep. Gina Mason died on Sept. 5 at age 57. She represented House District 56, which includes Lisbon.
Maine's four political parties will now caucus to choose their candidates for the seat. Nominations are due Oct. 3.
Non-party candidates must circulate petitions and get at least 50 signatures from registered voters in the district.
The winner of the election will serve out the remainder of Mason's term.
