2 Kids Strapped In Car Seats Survive Crash That Killed Mom

OLD TOWN, Maine - Two young children strapped in their car seats have survived a Maine highway crash and a night in the wrecked car where their mother died.

State police spokesman Steve McCausland says 26-year-old Liza Parker, of Bangor, died after her station wagon rolled several times before coming to rest in a wooded Interstate 95 median in Old Town.

Police say the crash appears to have happened Sunday evening but gone unnoticed until Monday afternoon when a tractor-trailer operator saw the wrecked vehicle, which was nearly invisible in woods about 50 feet from the roadway.

Parker and her children were reported missing Sunday night after failing to arrive in Howland to meet her ex-husband.

Rescue personnel say 5-year-old Mason Worcester and 18-month-old Tiaona Robinson suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
