Seniors Stretch & Move Class with Kara Fili at the Waldo Theatre
The Waldo is offering a Seniors Stretch & Move class on Monday mornings from 10:00am - 11:15 for eight weeks starting September 13th for those 60+ years of age. The class takes place on the stage of the recently renovated historic Theatre.
Class begins with a seated warm up and full-body stretches, then progresses to a standing body/brain workout of learning a fun choreography sequence with the option to remain seated before finishing with a brief open dance circle. No dance experience is necessary and all abilities are welcome.
Music from the 1930’s - present day will keep us energized throughout our workout which draws from disciplines such as yoga, pilates, tap, jazz, West African, modern and ballet dance.
Instructor Kara Fili has been teaching and dancing professionally for over 15 years. Her practice includes contemporary dance and choreography for youth through older adults, West African dance with Benkadi Drum & Dance of Boston, and leading movement classes in elder care facilities. She is a faculty choreographer and adjunct professor at Endicott College and is currently earning her 200-hr yoga teacher certification. She and her husband recently moved to Midcoast Maine from Medford, MA and she’s excited to become part of the area’s creative community.
COVID-19 vaccination is required for all participants. The Waldo is keeping up-to-date with CDC recommendations for Lincoln County and masks are currently required for the class.
Mondays from 10am - 11:15am; September 13 - November 8 (no class October 11).
