Handcuffed Man Who Fled Police Back in Custody

OTISFIELD, Maine - A suspect who escaped from a state trooper's vehicle while wearing handcuffs earlier this week is back in custody.

Authorities say 27-year-old Maxx Noble of Otisfield turned himself in at the Oxford County Jail at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the cuffed Noble unbuckled his seatbelt, unlocked the cruiser door and fled into the woods wearing only socks on his feet on Tuesday afternoon while two troopers were inside a residence.

Police described Noble as a "desperate man'' and told area residents that he should be considered dangerous.

An initial court appearance on drug and firearms will now be scheduled in South Paris District Court. Noble will remain at the jail until then.
