Maine Man Convicted of Killing Informant

AUBURN, Maine - A Maine jury has found a Lewiston resident guilty of murdering a man prosecutors say informed on him in a burglary case.

The Sun Journal that reports 21-year-old William True was convicted in Androscoggin County Superior Court on Wednesday after a nine-day trial featuring nearly two dozen prosecution witnesses. True did not take the state in his defense.

A prosecutor said True and two other men drove 20-year-old Romeo Parent of Lewiston to a secluded area in the woods of Greene in 2013 before True and another man beat, stabbed and strangled him. The other man, 27-year-old Michael McNaughton of Lewiston, was convicted of murdering Parent in a July trial. Parent implicated True in a burglary a week before the killing.

True faces 25 years to life in prison.
