BANGOR, Maine - The widow of a man who was killed in an accident during Bangor's Fourth of July parade two years ago is suing the city.
The lawsuit that Lorena Fenlason filed with the Penobscot County Superior Court says that Bangor officials didn't perform "competent, reasonable and necessary maintenance'' on the antique fire truck that struck her husband, Wallace Fenlason, during the 2013 parade.
Lorena Fenlason is also suing the organizers of the parade and Patrick Heathcote, a firefighter who was driving the truck.
Sixty-three-year-old Wallace Fenlason was thrown from the tractor after the fire truck struck it, and then ran over him. Officials have said that the fire engine was low on brake fluid and lost its braking ability.
A spokeswoman for Bangor didn't immediately return a request for comment Thursday.
