Police Identify Men in Biddeford Shooting

BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) _ State police say two men shot inside a Biddeford apartment were victims of a double homicide that is still under investigation.

Police identified the men Monday as 37-year-old Jeffrey Lude of Biddeford and 42-year-old Russell Lavoie of Old Orchard Beach.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said Biddeford police were called to an apartment house on Western Avenue for a shooting around 7 p.m. Sunday. One man died at Maine Medical Center and the other died in an ambulance. McCausland says neither man appeared to live in the building.

McCausland said detectives worked the scene overnight.

Both bodies were transferred to the medical examiner's office, where it was determined that they were shot to death. Police say they are gathering evidence and interviewing neighbors, family and friends.
