ST. FRANCIS, Maine (AP) — A rescuer says two teenage hikers who got lost in the Maine woods this past week did the right thing by finding shelter and staying there until they were found.
16-year-old Nathaniel Nadeau and 15-year-old Garrick Brown of Gorham did not return on time from a hike up 1,900-foot Debouillie Mountain in Aroostook County on Wednesday.
After authorities were alerted they were about six hours overdue to return, a three-member search party set out to look for them.
The boys were in good spirits and unharmed when they were found in a lean-to at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
