Maine Train Death a Suicide, Police Say

NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Police say the death of a man killed when he was hit by the Amtrak Downeaster train was likely a suicide.

The Portland Press-Herald reports the train struck 27-year-old Christopher Sprague of North Berwick on Saturday. Police say Sprague apparently walked up the tracks heading north out of North Berwick, where he was hit by the train. The train was heading north from Boston.

The fatality was the second deadly incident with a train in North Berwick in recent months. A North Berwick man died July 23 when he stepped in front of a Downeaster train.
