DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine - A Maine man who spent two months on the run after the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend will return to court after his bail hearing was delayed.
The hearing was scheduled for Monday for Robert Burton. He has been held without bail since turning himself in last week. The case is being continued, and no future date has been set yet.
Investigators say they believe Burton climbed into the bedroom window of Stephanie Ginn Gebo and shot her after she broke up with him.
A state police affidavit indicates Gebo was so afraid of Burton that she kept a handgun under her pillow or comforter. Her body was found on June 5 by her daughter who, along with a younger brother, had been asleep upstairs.
