Maine Turkey Hunt Season Starts Monday

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Maine's spring turkey hunt is about to get into full swing all over the state as hunters search for the bearded birds.

The season begins on Monday. Hunters are allowed to harvest only two bearded wild turkeys in the spring.

The turkey season lasts until June 4. It is open continuously in most of the state, but some parts of far northern Maine restrict certain weeks of the season by hunters' years of birth. Hunters are advised to check with authorities before hunting.

The bag limit is two turkeys in most of the state, but is limited to one turkey in seven wildlife management districts located in far northern Maine.

There is also a fall turkey hunt in September and October.
