Maine Providing $10 Million in Education Grants Over 2 Years

AUGUSTA, Maine - The Maine Department of Education is making $10 million in grants available over the next two years to assist in regional education projects.

The state says the money is available through the Fund for Efficient Delivery of Educational Services. The fund provides money to help pay for the cost of local and regional initiatives designed to improve educational opportunities.

The education department says $5 million is available this year and another $5 million will be available in 2018. Maine Department of Education Commissioner Robert G. Hasson Jr. says the grant program's goal is to provide "more opportunities to students and increase their chances for achievement and success.''
