You could say Ryan Lizza is the man who got Anthony Scaramucci fired. Lizza was the reporter for the New Yorker who Scaramucci called, swearing about other members of the Trump hierarchy, a conversation that went public.
While it may have forced Chief of Staff Reince Priebus out, it also led to the hiring of John Kelly, who yesterday demanded Scaramucci's resignation.
Lizza spoke at College of the Atlantic last night about - among other things - the aftermath of that call.
Lizza went on to talk about President Trump, who, he said, still acts more like a reality TV show star running for president than a man who actually holds the job. Lizza said you see that in Trump's failure to use the levers of power now at his disposal to accomplish his goals.
But Lizza also said that the sharp partisan divisions in the country have robbed presidents of the "bully pulpit." He said members of Congress had to urge former President Obama against campaigning for an immigration reform bill. They said any of his public statements would actually make it harder for Republicans to get behind such legislation.
