This isn’t just a walk—it’s a movement. Drunk driving fatalities in Maine have increased by 41% in 2022 compared to 2021. This preventable surge in impaired driving makes this year’s Walk Like MADD event a strong call to action. Participants will share personal stories of loss, survival, and resilience—stories that underscore the toll of impaired driving and the urgency to act now.
Funds raised from Walk Like MADD provide critical support for MADD’s free 24/7 victim services, including:
- Guidance with crime victim compensation
- Assistance through the criminal and civil justice systems
- Court accompaniment for hearings and trials
- Help with victim impact statements
- Emotional support for victims and their loved ones
- Connections to other victims and survivors with shared experiences
- Referrals to additional resources and support groups
