Join us for our new Mechanics’ Hall Book Club, meeting every third Tuesday of the month at 6:30. This book discussion group will feature selections across genres, with a particular focus on diverse voices, contemporary issues, works of noted literary merit, and topics of particular relevance to Mechanics’ Hall.

For April we will be discussing Ocean Vuong’s novel, “On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous.” Published in 2019 and written in the form of letters to his mother, this is Vietnamese-American poet Ocean Vuong’s debut novel, released to widespread critical acclaim. A finalist for the 2020 Pen/Faulkner award and longlisted for the 2019 National Book Award for Fiction, it appeared on many best books of 2019 lists and spent six weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list.
