The Lewiston Public Library, in partnership with ArtVan, will be offering in-person art programs.
Starting on September 10th, the programs will take place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 3:30pm-5:00pm in the Children’s Department for children ages 5-14.
Make Art with ArtVan is free, open to the public, and no registration is required. All art supplies will be provided.
Program takes place on the 3rd floor of the Lewiston Public Library, in the Children’s Department. Children aged 5-8 must be accompanied by an adult.
ArtVan is a mobile art program that brings hands-on creative art opportunities for self-expression, personal growth, and fun. All of their projects aim to inspire art-making with a variety of materials to explore. ArtVan programs engage all age groups, encourage time outside and reduce screen time, help youth stay connected, diminish stress, and provide release for unvented expressions of emotions, such as loss and confusion.
ArtVan began in 2004 and has provided therapeutic art and strengths-based programs to under-resourced neighborhoods.
The Lewiston Public Library is located downtown at 200 Lisbon Street at the corner of Pine Street. More information on ArtVan programs is available by contacting the Lewiston Public Library at 513-3133 or LPLKids@lewistonmaine.gov.
Retiring from a career is a significant emotional and psychological adjustment for many. Many courses and resources address topics such as financial planning for retirement, legal issues, and the physical transitions of aging. This course will focus instead on emotional well-being during your retirement transition and next chapter.
We will provide skills and resources for social-emotional development to soon-to-retire professionals, or those newly retired. Enhance resilience and transition-coping skills. Establish new social connections with other course participants.
This course is designed for individuals who are contemplating retirement or who are newly retired. (We will not cover planning the legal or financial aspects of retirement in this course; there are other places to work on those processes.)
This participatory program will be offered synchronously via Zoom—you’ll need access to a stable internet connection. Between classes, there will be reading and exploratory assignments (as well as time during sessions to work on your proposals). Breakout sessions with other participants and one-on-one time with the instructor are built into the program.
Instructor Pat McCabe, MS, MEd is a New Hampshire-based human resources partner with 24 years of experience asking future retirees: What are your plans for after you retire? With master’s degrees in Counseling and Higher Education Administration, she has been connecting people to resources at non-profit organizations and in higher education since shoulder pads and big hair were in fashion.

Join us for a soulful-somatic evening in 92-degree saltwater. This is ceremonial playfulness: structured enough to feel safe, spacious enough to surprise yourself.

In this womb-like warmth, less is more. Slowness is power. Softness is strength. We hold each other and are held. This is a space to remember: your body is wise, your desires matter, and you belong exactly as you are.Limited to 9 women because some magic only happens in small circles.
