"We're all going to die, so why don't we talk about it? I'm not saying talk about it so incessantly that people generally avoid you, (although you can if you want - I usually do) but rather talk about what we would like our end-of-life experience, our death, and our disposition to look and be like. With clear and concise communication and preparation, you can - and will - create the strongest possibility that you will experience a 'good death.'" -Leona Oceania, from Die Well Death Education
At a Death Cafe, people - often strangers - gather to eat cake, drink tea, and discuss death. Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their finite lives.' It is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session. All are welcome - join us!
*Individually wrapped, homemade skull cakelets will be provided.
You do not need to have attended prior classes to attend any of the Death Education series, but please register due to space limitations.

Some say that The Tides Beach Club's original owner, Emma Foss, is still keeping watch over her life's work — even in death. Guests experience whispers behind them, only to turn around and find there's no one there. Furniture is moved in the middle of the night. Lights in the attic can frequently be seen but — there are no lights in the attic.
Join us at The Tides Beach Club on October 16th or October 23rd at 5:00PM where we'll board a trolley and journey into the night to see some of Kennebunkport's most haunted locations.
The harshly beautiful coastline of Kennebunkport, Maine has a long history of storm, revolution and folklore that seems to lure deceased residents from the ether. Join Maine's mystery maven as she delves into the chilling secrets and ghostly lore of York County on this curious trolley ride.
Our tour will begin and end at The Tides Beach Club, enjoy happy hour cocktails* from 3:00-5:00PM before getting spooked! Please arrive 10-15 minutes early as the trolley will leave promptly at 5:00PM.
Parking is available along Goose Rocks Beach (no permit needed); parking at The Tides Beach Club is exclusive for hotel guests only.

In an ideal situation, antiques would be tucked away in climate-controlled storage, but we want to live with our heirlooms and enjoy them. This class helps you develop a plan to preserve your antiques, based on object type, by maximizing the environmental conditions of your home or historic building. The Museum’s historic houses are our living laboratory. We will visit one to illustrate these concepts.
If you’re grazing livestock on pocket-sized pastures, join us to learn strategies for managing pasture health on homesteads with limited acreage.
This workshop will take place at a small homestead in Albion, ME, where pastures are managed on a tight rotational grazing plan. MOFGA’s Livestock & Dairy Specialist, Jacki Martinez Perkins, will discuss the strategies at play at this homestead, provide an overview of other considerations for the unique needs of small pastures and particular livestock, and discuss organic pasture management strategies for homesteaders.
