Electric vehicles on display, live music and art projects for all ages, food trucks, informational tables, and a parade led by the Ideal Maine Social Aid and Sanctuary Band, will all be happening at Lincoln Park on Sunday, September 21 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Four organizations planned this celebratory event: Sierra Club, Maine Climate Action Now, A Climate to Thrive, and Third Act Maine. We’re sending the clear message: we have the tools to power our communities with clean energy and overwhelming public support to do it.

Richard Boyd Art Gallery opens September with a group exhibition of paintings and sculptures in a range of styles created by a group of national and internationally renowned visual artists with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and styles.

The exhibit is comprised of a magnificent selection of fine art that offers viewers a visual narrative of feelings expressed in color, depth, detail, and texture. From the calming beauty of a foggy landscape to the immersive experience of a surrealistic dreamscape, art takes viewers on a personal journey of exploration. Art is an international language we all understand, offering viewers adventure and discovery.

The exhibition presents an exceptional collection of paintings and sculptures created from the soul of the artist. Each work is a well-rendered expression of emotion, passion, and feelings. The exhibit includes works by Deena S. Ball, Tim Eaton, Patricia Chandler, Randy Eckard, Richard H. Eyster, Laura Freeman, Jane Herbert, and HM Saffer II.

Rebecca Hayes ‘From Maine With Love’
New Paintings Inspired by Vintage Scenes

Through her stunning photo-realistic paintings, artist Rebecca Hayes takes us on a journey through Greater Portland history finding forgotten moments and cherished memories. In collaboration with historian Paul Ledman, author of “Walking Through History: Portland, Maine on Foot” and “Portland, Maine: Connections Across Time”, Hayes has brought her sharp brush work and eye for color to iconic locations including Harbor Fish Market, Red’s Dairy Freeze, and Congress Square. Each painting will be accompanied by text from Ledman for historical context.
Additional paintings of contemporary paintings of Greater Portland will be on view in the gallery.

Rebecca Hayes is an artist based in Portland, Maine. She grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Opening Reception: Thursday August 8th, 5-7pm

Sun Day celebrants in Portland can expect local food trucks, activities for children and a stage for musical performances, including Third Act Maine’s own Marcia Taylor. The power for the music will be supplied by a Ford F150 Lightning courtesy of Revision Energy. Revision will also have an electric motor boat and all sorts of battery powered lawn equipment on display.

Presented in partnership with Maine Climate Action Network (MCAN), A Climate to Thrive (ACTT), Maine Youth for Climate Justice MYCJ, Maine Sierra Club, Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) and Center for an Ecology Based Economy (CEBE).

Sun Day is a global day of action on September 21, 2025, celebrating the unstoppable rise of clean energy and the movement to leave fossil fuels behind. Timed with the fall equinox—a moment of transition—Mainers are coming together to celebrate the power of the sun and wind, the energy sources that can power our world without pollution or profiteering.

This is the 16th season of Concerts at Norcross Point, a free concert series on the shores of Maranacook Lake. This year's schedule is as follows:

This weekly “backyard party” makes the most out of the easy Sundays afternoons of summertime!

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy an afternoon at the farm! Come and listen to live music, have a pint of a local beer, snack on a bison hot dog, visit the farm store and bring the kiddos to meet our friendly farm animals.

Each week features a concert of local musicians from diverse genres: rhythm & blues, jazz, Americana and more. Each open-air concert is the perfect backdrop for family and friends to lounge in the late afternoon sun and soak up the remaining moments of a Maine summertime weekend.

The Harold J. Crosby Band Camp Concert is Sunday, September 21 at Dexter Town Hall 2nd floor at 1:30 pm. Join us for a captivating journey through five distinct musical voices, each exploring the art of conversation between instruments.

From the lyrical charm of John Corigliano’s 'The Food of Love' to the rhythmic interplay of Gernot Wolfgang’s 'Encounters', this program celebrates the expressive power of chamber music. Brazilian composer João Guilherme Ripper brings warmth and vitality in his Duo Sonatina, while Gian Francesco Malipiero’s Epodi e Giambi offers a rare gem of 20th-century Italian modernism.

The concert culminates with Mozart’s radiant Quartet for Oboe and Strings in F major, K. 370, a masterwork of elegance and wit.
