Nocturne is the last show of the Maine Art Gallery's 2024 season. Come to the free opening reception on Sat. Sept 14 from 5-7 pm.
The run of the show is from 9/12-10/20 on Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun from11-4 pm. View works depicting darkness and light by 55 juried Maine artists. A great show to finish out the season.

The Institute of Contemporary Art at Maine College of Art & Design (ICA at MECA&D) is pleased to present "Objects and Power", on view from October 4 to December 13, 2024. A public reception will be held Friday, October 4 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the ICA.

"Objects and Power" features ten internationally known artists whose work examines the roots of collecting and museums; instances of extraction, theft, and erasure; themes of Indigeneity, access, and ownership; and examples of artists and community groups telling stories and giving value to objects on their terms.

Having music close at hand can make a difference to the natural anxieties and discomforts that arise during this time.
Many kids have expressed relief in having a musical instrument to play in their own way, while coping with an unexpected curve in their lives.

RESONATE! is a new project through which a child/teen may adopt a musical instrument for free. This is made possible by generous donations of different instruments.

You can make a selection from the variety of instruments and then make arrangements for delivery.

Eastport Arts Center’s Homeschool Co-op meets on the first and third Fridays of each month, from 1-3 pm. The group is a place for K-12 students and their families to engage in structured activities, have a safe space to explore educational goals, and meet peers for social interaction.

Join Nicholas Repenning of go-en fermented foods for a miso-making workshop. This hands-on workshop will include a discussion about miso and its uses, as well as the history and cultural significance of this traditional fermented food of Japan. Having been produced for more than a millennium, miso utilizes techniques and relationships that have been passed down from generation to generation with little alteration. Learn why that is, and get to know the microbial partners within and around us that have agreed to carry on these nurturing relationships.

Students will mix and mash 1 kg of fresh, organic miso to take home and ferment in the comfort of their own homes.

Weekly Farmers Market in Waterville Maine. We have 20 plus vendors selling fresh, seasonal vegetables, baked goods, cheese, eggs, meat, maple syrup, seedlings/plants, herbs, and crafts! Music most weeks too and the Children's Discovery Museum comes most weeks with activities for kids.

Paint your own Magic Tree in this fun Paint 'n' Sip taught by Erika Rosso at the Gilley. Sip on wine, tea or seltzer as part of this adults-only class, which is suitable for artists of all levels who are at least 21 years old. All materials and beverages provided.

Art and Written works from inside the Prison Industrial Complex. College Guild is based in Brunswick, Maine. Our mission is to provide free correspondence courses that connect incarcerated people with a community beyond prison walls, fostering mutual respect through a shared passion for learning.

In conjunction with First Friday, these fun and engaging events offer makers of all ages the chance to explore their creativity and craft something special. From clay to felting, leather to bookmaking, Community Maker Days are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the joy of creating!

Diane Dahlke is an integral member of Portland and Maine's art community as well as the CBA family. Her career spans a long tenure at Maine College Of Art teaching continuing studies to many well known Maine artists including artists now featured in our own gallery. With her, retirement, Diane is dedicating all of her time to her art.
