Mon 10/27 MOVING TO MAINE
More people have been moving to Maine from other states in recent years. Some came during the pandemic to work remotely, others sought out Maine's abundant outdoor recreation and slower pace. We learn about demographic patterns of those arriving, why they made the move, and how they feel about their new home state.
Tue 10/28 ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY
Assistive Technology (AT) includes any type of equipment or tool that helps people with disabilities function more independently. It can be something as simple as a walker or an adaptive eating utensil, or a high-tech solution such as a motorized wheelchair or a customized computer. We learn what kinds of AT are available to people in Maine who need it, how to access them/AT it, and how the latest advances can help people in new ways. This show is part of our series “Ready & Able: Living With a Disability in Maine.”
Wed 10/29 DEER HUNTING
As deer hunting season begins, we get an update on the status of Maine’s deer population and how it’s being managed. We’ll find out about new hunting rules and regulations, the state’s pilot program to allow electronic deer tagging, “do not eat” advisories regarding PFAS in deer meat, whether the makeup of people who hunt in Maine is changing, and where some of the best places are to hunt.
Thu 10/30 HEALTH INSURANCE
Health insurance choices and coverage are confusing and costly already. Now, prices for tens of thousands of Mainers are expected to spike in 2026. Plus, the month-long government shutdown and federal changes are making it even more challenging to navigate health insurance options. Our panel answers questions about health insurance coverage and enrollment—and how to interpret recent restrictions.
Fri 10/31 HORROR MOVIES
Horror films are the fastest-growing movie genre. And Maine is known for this genre – more horror films are set here than in any other state. What’s so spooky about Maine? And why do so many filmgoers these days like being scared? As part of our “Passions and Pastimes” series, we discuss the popularity of horror films and hear about our panelists’ favorite scary movies.
