Stop in Richard Boyd Art Gallery in July and relax while viewing a presentation of beautifully detailed paintings that made me pause to take in their beauty, intricate details or contemplate the underlying meaning they convey. Immerse yourself in a world of textures, colors, and details as you explore a range of contrasting styles from impressionism to realism, featuring a magnificent selection of original visual art created by artists from diverse backgrounds. The artists’ individual styles, choice of mediums and color palettes give them distinction in the visual arts community.
The exhibit is comprised of a stunning selection of paintings, each created with heartfelt emotions from the soul of the artist drawing viewers into a moment in time when an event, scene, or color inspired them to create. Whatever the inspiration, these paintings will remain relevant through the years.
The exhibit showcases works by highly regarded, award-winning artists among them Jane Herbert a distinguished fine and commercial artist known for her calming, beautifully detailed acrylic paintings; Deena S. Ball a nationally renowned art educator and instructor known for her use of watercolor on unconventional surfaces; Patricia Chandler a distinguished fine and commercial artist, art instructor, illustrator, and retired art educator well known for her knowledge and ability to create original art across all genres; Carrin Culotta recognized for her traditional style plein air and in studio oil paintings; Tim Eaton a nationally recognized commercial and fine artist known for his landscape paintings; and HM Saffer II an internationally renowned, award-winning performing and visual artist famed for his magnificently layered pointillist style landscape paintings.

Most people know that museums collect objects, put on exhibits and present programs, but just how do the staff go about doing those things? Saco Museum will feature some of its oldest collections dating from the late19th century, as well as recent acquisitions, to illustrate how the secrets are unveiled. Staff will be available most weekdays to answer questions. Exhibit hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, noon to 4 p.m.; Thursday, 4-8 p.m. (free admission); Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In much of his work, Keith Plummer uses repoussage, an intricate metalworking technique that forms relief designs by hammering out or pressing thin metal from the reverse side. Experience the process firsthand at Puddle Dock Village School, where Plummer will showcase his technique while engaging with gallery visitors.

The experience includes a welcome sample of Allagash White. Starting May 1st we are tasting: Floating Holiday - blonde with lemon and sea salt, Dark Lager with Cherries, Cellar's #11 - barrel blend with wine grapes, and World on a String - bourbon barrel aged amber inspired by an "Old Fashioned" cocktail. Final pour is a "choose your own adventure" sample between two rotating options.
