AUBURN, Maine — A Poland man charged with stabbing his uncle has been indicted by an Androscoggin County grand jury on two counts of elevated aggravated assault and other charges.
Police say 29-year-old Phillip Audet used a butcher's knife to stab 49-year-old Steven Narbonne twice during an argument in July. Audet was staying at his uncle's home.
Audet fled in his uncle vehicle's, but was caught after abandoning it.
Narbonne underwent surgery at a hospital and survived.
The Sun Journal reports that each of the charges against Audet carries a maximum punishment of 30 years in prison.
Audet's lawyer says his client acted in self-defense.
