Falmouth Police Warn People Not To Eat Turkeys Recovered By Dumpster Diver

Police in Falmouth are warning about the possibility that discarded turkeys are being redistributed, something officials are calling a “very bad idea.”

In a Facebook post the Falmouth Police Department says it got a report from Hannaford about turkeys that had been thrown away after they thawed out due to a mechanical failure. The birds are not considered fit to eat and were removed from the dumpster behind the store in Falmouth. Hannaford says plans were to take them to a landfill.

Falmouth police say the turkeys were being offered online and that, if anyone has acquired a bird in an unconventional manner from someone they don’t know, the turkey should be discarded and replaced.
