Northern Light Inland Hospital in Waterville is permanently closing Tuesday.
The emergency department will stop accepting patients at noon, and clinical services will end at 5 p.m.
Most of Inland Hospital's associated clinics and practices will close. But a walk-in clinic in Waterville and two primary care offices in Unity and Madison will remain open. Northern Light Continuing Care Lakewood is unaffected by the hospital's closure.
Northern Light Health first announced in January that it would temporarily suspend birthing services at Inland. Then in March, officials announced the entire 48-bed hospital would close. They cited financial challenges, including $1 million in monthly operational losses, as well as staffing challenges.
Last year, Inland had more than 1,200 inpatient admissions.
The hospital opened more than 80 years ago.
