Highs winds, freezing spray and the first winter storm of the season are making it more difficult for rescuers to find two people missing from a fishing vessel.
U.S. Coast Guard and Maine Marine Patrol crews searched the waters near Matinicus Island Saturday afternoon, after the the F/V No Limits, homeported in Cushing, apparently foundered and went down while checking lobster traps.
According to a Coast Guard spokesperson, some rescue boats had to be called back due to dangerous weather, but a Coast Guard helicopter was able to locate the boat's Captain Chris Hutchinson, floating on a raft near the site of the sinking; he was treated and released from the hospital. But two crew members remain missing.
Chief Petty Officer Aaron Clendaniel said in a statement that the search will continue for the missing crew members.
It's not yet clear what caused the vessel to sink.
