PORTLAND, Maine - A Maine pilot who flew cross-country from Ontario, California to Portland in a small plane says he will submit the paperwork to have the flight certified as a record.
Damon Meyer, of Saco, left Ontario on Sunday at around 4:30 a.m. PDT and landed in Portland at 8:50 p.m. EDT. He says he will provide documentation about the journey to the National Aeronautic Association, which maintains flight records. Meyer says the flight between the two specific points should be declared a record because no one has attempted to document the flight before.
Meyer says he made some modifications to his plane so it could fly faster.
He says that within the next two years he will try to set a record for flying around the world.
