Maine Man in Custody for Shooting Death of Ex-Girlfriend

GUILFORD, Maine - The longest manhunt in Maine's modern history is at an end today, as Robert Burton has turned himself in.

Burton, who was wanted in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Ginn Gebo, was on the run for 68 days. He turned himself in to the Piscataquis County Sheriff's office at about 12:30 this afternoon. A dispatcher there confirmed that Burton is in custody and is being processed on a fugitive warrant.

The manhunt had been concentrated in the southern part of Piscataquis County. Gebo's body was found shot to death on June 5. Police say she was killed after Parkman broke into her home, and while her children slept downstairs.

The sheriff's office says more information will be available this afternoon, and we'll update this story.
