Acting Principal to Stay After Ex-Principal Charged, Fired

WATERVILLE, Maine - A Maine assistant principal will continue to serve as acting principal after the former principal was dismissed amid allegations he asked a student for sex.

Don Reiter was charged with a misdemeanor Nov. 19 after a police investigation into allegations that he asked an 18-year-old female student for sex in his office on the first day of school at Waterville Senior High School. The school board fired the 44-year-old Reiter on Nov. 16.

Reiter's attorney has said his client will plead not guilty.

The Morning Sentinel reports that the Waterville Board of Education voted Wednesday to keep acting Principal Brian Laramee until the end of the school year.

Laramee had been assistant principal for four years.
