Conservative Agitator Announces Bid For Maine Senate

BREWER, Maine - Former Republican Gov. Paul LePage is giving his endorsement to the Maine Senate bid of a conservative agitator who once accused Democrats of waging a "war on whites."LePage appeared alongside Rep. Larry Lockman at his campaign announcement on Tuesday. The candidacy sets up a primary challenge for Republican Sen. Kim Rosen of Bucksport, who's endorsed by party leaders. The Bangor Daily News reports that Lockman said Democratic Gov. Janet Mills is more concerned with helping "new Mainers" - recent immigrants - than "old Mainers." He said he'd be a voice for Mainers "left behind by the political class and the lobbyists at the Statehouse." Rosen said Democrats are likely to be thrilled about Lockman's nomination as the election year approaches.
