Northern Light Health's Board of Directors gave unanimous approval Wednesday afternoon to pursue a merger with Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft.
Northern Light President and CEO Michelle Hood says the vote is an important step toward preserving quality care in rural Maine.
Several additional steps are required before the merger can take place, including approval from the Maine legislature. If plans are finalized, Mayo would become the tenth member hospital of Northern Light Health.
