With so many working from home these days, chances are slimmer than usual that you'll need a bus or train Thursday to get to where you're going. But, if you do, here's an update on changes to public transportation services in the wake of COVID-19:
Long Distance Services:
- Concord Coach Lines(serving Bangor, Augusta, Auburn, Portland, and the Maine Coast): beginning Sunday, March 22nd, New York City service is suspended, and service to Logan Airport and downtown Boston will be sharply curtailed.
- Greyhound, serving Bangor, Waterville, Lewiston and Portland, is showing one southbound run from Bangor to Boston, and one northbound return run from Boston to Bangor.
- Cyr Bus Linehas suspended its Bangor-to-Caribou service.
- Amtrak Downeaster will operate three round-trips Thursday and Friday, March 19 and 20th, then two round trips daily beginning Saturday, March 21.
Local Services:
- The Metro buses serving Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Freeport and Brunswick will offer nearly regular service Thursday, March 19. But beginning Friday, March 20, the service will run daily on its Saturday schedule, except for sunday, during which the regular Sunday schedule will be maintained. Also, beginning Friday, March 20, fare collection will be suspended.
- South Portland Bus Service will run on its regular schedule, but fare collection will be suspended beginning Friday, March 20.
- Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach Transit is ending local services between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Zoom Express service will be unchanged. No service will be offered Sundays.
- Community Connector for Bangor and vicinity plans to continue operating on a normal schedule.
- CityLink, serving the Lewiston-Auburn area, will be operating on its normal schedule.
- Lakes Region Explorer, servicing Bridgton, Naples, South Casco, Raymond, North Windham, Westbrook and Portland, runs on its regular schedule through Saturday, March 21. Beginning Monday, March 23, the last round trip of the day will be cancelled. It usually departs Bridgton at 7:10 p.m. and Portland at 8:45 p.m.
- Aroostook Regional Transportation System, serving Aroostook County and parts of Penobscot and Washington counties, continues normal service Thursday.
