Airbnb Usage Up 45 Percent In Maine, Company Says

Airbnb says usage is way up this summer season compared to last.  The company says there will likely be 229,000 "guest arrivals" in Maine by Labor Day.  That would be up from 158,000 last summer, a 45 percent increase.

Most of the out-of-staters renting were from Massachusetts and New York.  The company says 16,000 Mainers made reservations at Airbnb properties in other parts of the state.

The Mainers who rented out space or their homes will have taken in some $40 million this summer, up from $13 million.
