PORTLAND, Maine - FairPoint Communications and about 1,700 union workers have reached tentative agreements on wages and benefits, aimed at ending the strike that's now dragged on for about four months.
In a press release, union officials say the agreements will "provide employees with wages and benefits that are among the best in northern New England." The agreements will also allow the company to be more competitive, according to the press release.
Union members will vote on whether to ratify the agreements "as soon as possible." If striking workers agree to the terms, they'll be back on the job Feb. 25, union officials say.
