United Airlines is adding six new destinations for passengers traveling from the Portland International Jetport.
The new flights will go nonstop to Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; Pittsburgh; Milwaukee; Cleveland and Indianapolis.
Portland Jetport official Zach Sundquist says airlines are trying to lure pandemic-wary fliers back into the sky.
“If it’s a nonstop flight, where in two hours you can go from Point A to Point B as opposed to spending six hours of your day flying to Point A, spending a couple of hours on the ground there with a bunch of strangers and then connecting to Point B, it’s just a cleaner travel experience.”
Last year, the jetport processed about 792,000 passengers — a decline of more than 60% from 2019.
United already serves four destinations from Portland. Flights to the six new destinations will begin on May 27, and will bring to 30 the number of destinations that can be reached nonstop from Portland.
