Juneteenth Celebration

Juneteenth Celebration
Because the Black Story is the American Story, let’s gather to celebrate Juneteenth. Juneteenth stands as the quintessential representation of Black American history. A holiday that celebrates the end of enslavement in the United States, but also reminds us that parts of our country’s history are always in peril of being overlooked, edited, or forgotten. This Juneteenth, let’s commit to being part of a community that holds dear, celebrates loudly, and passes on the values of freedom, equity, and education. Whether your family has called Maine home for many generations, or just a few short months, as citizens of Westbrook, we all hold the power to write the next chapter in the American story.
