Let Me Grow Dark

Let Me Grow Dark

Let Me Grow Dark brings together eleven artists working across mediums to celebrate the light, the dark, and the brief moment of metamorphosis in between. Through both subject matter and materiality—from natural forms to ancient ones—these artists explore themes of land and remembrance.

Let Me Grow Dark is an invitation to acknowledge and welcome the change of season as a change in the land and of the self. With longer nights comes rest and rebirth. This exhibition explores the light and dark, life and death, as cyclical, one feeding into the next and back again. Here, in a cabin in the woods, the exhibition acts as an altar—a worship of the land, of existence, of time. The art, like a harvest feast, is nourishment from all that is behind and for all that is ahead. The act of being in the space, of moving through the forest, of seeing these artists, of holding and being held by the land, is the ritual.

Artists
Chip Barchilon, Kyla Cech, Grace DeGennaro, Katia Dermott, Anna Leigh Clem, Midori Morrow, Haley Nannig, Rori Smith, Maya Tihtiyas Attean, Loretta Violante, and Peter Wallis.

October 25th | 3pm - 7pm
Saturday’s festivities will include atmospheric jazz by Faith Leaders followed by a sundown performance art piece, Path, by Rori Smith. In the tradition of Samhain, there will be a fire to cleanse and welcome in the new as well as a light seasonal “feast.”

October 26th | 11am - 3pm
Sunday will be quieter and still. Join us to explore the cabin exhibition under the warm chill of the October sun.
