Shoestring Theater's "Freak Bird"
Have you ever seen a tree grow? Watched the moon rise? Or fallen asleep watching tv? Maybe.. but you’ve NEVER seen a puppet show like this!
Portland renowned Shoestring Theater presents its latest puppet show blending puppetry of numerous mediums and scales, elaborate costumes, and striking choreography accompanied by live music. In this abstract performance, a tree grows in shadows produced by an overhead projector, a hand puppet goes about its daily domestic business, and human sized raptors dance across the stage. Part play, part bad dream, Shoestring invites you to see where we go when we fall asleep. Directed by Shoestring’s Nance Parker, performed by local puppeteers Sarah Katz, Celina Lemieux, Kendall Mackey, Josie Colt, and Paige Phillips; music by Rion Hergenhan and support from Greg Frangoulis.
