The Climate Resilience Fair, put on by the Waldo County Climate Action Coalition, will take place on Saturday October 4th 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Steamboat Landing in Belfast. The fair will bring together 30+ local businesses and nonprofits with resources and examples of how to make your home and landscape more environmentally friendly and prepare for extreme weather. This FREE event will also include family activities, music, and food trucks.
Come learn about: electric bikes and cars; heat pumps for your home or business, solar panels and other renewable energy technologies, land conservation, composting, and food security.

ECMI Instrument Petting Zoo at Ellsworth Public Library

Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) offers its next Instrument Petting Zoo from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on October 4, 2025. Offered as part of Heart of Ellsworth’s annual Art of Ellsworth celebration, this event is free to the public and is held at the Ellsworth Public Library at 20 State Street in Ellsworth, Maine. No registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event. Join us for an engaging panel featuring three experts who bring unique perspectives on the future of space exploration. Together, they’ll explore how international space law is being written in real time, how the space economy is opening new opportunities — including right here in Maine — and how the work of rocket scientists and engineers is making the impossible possible. From rules to rockets, discover why space exploration matters today, not just for astronauts and scientists, but for all of us shaping life here on Earth and the generations who will look to the stars. The Lewiston Public Library will be offering drop-in Preschool Playdates from 10:30am-12:30pm on Saturdays* in the Children’s program room.
*(The Library will be closed on Saturday, 8/30 in observance of Labor Day & Saturday, 11/29 in observance of Thanksgiving.)

Drop-in and join us for Preschool Playdates! Preschoolers and their families are invited to stop in during our Preschool Playdates to engage in imaginative play and build friendships. A variety of toys, games, and crafts will be available during all sessions.

The programs will take place in the Children’s Program Room on the 3rd floor.

The programs are free and there is no registration required. All families with children between the ages of 2-6 are welcome to attend. Siblings are also welcome.

The first Saturday of every month Periwinkle Needlepoint is hosting a beginner's class.
Just come and purchase one of our hand painted beginner kits - either from Geraldine & Virginia ($36-$48) or DeElda ($32) and Jen will teach you how to get started on your needlepoint journey!

We’re excited to be hosting our Annual Celebration at the Wolfe’s Neck’s stunning Smith Center for Education and Research. The gorgeous venue boasts both indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, where a reverence for nature is woven into every detail. Explore the campus on a hike guided by Sierra’s outings leader David VonSeggern, or by way of educational wagon ride! Connect with furry and feathered friends at the petting barn, or unleash your inner mountain goat on a guided walk with the facilities’ friendliest Capae.

Centered on family and connection, this event was created with both children and seasoned conservation enthusiasts alike. In addition to activities for everyone’s inner kid, we are excited to hear from keynote speakers Karin Tilberg and Karen Woodsum, both accomplished in their respective environmental fields. Enjoy a catered lunch, beer garden, and dessert while learning about and honoring the work our members have poured their hearts into. After the program concludes, we encourage guests to experience everything Wolfe’s Neck has to offer, and mingle with fellow Sierrans to the tunes of local band Springtide.
