A Victorian Nutcracker
Join Portland Ballet this holiday season for its gorgeous production of the beloved classic, in which a young girl travels through her dreams to the Land of the Sweets alongside her favorite gift—a Nutcracker. This version is unique to Portland, with the first act drawing upon the Victoria Mansion's own history and characters. In celebration of her 250th birthday, join Skidompha Library and River Company for tea and cake, and a table read of the 1906 stage version of Pride and Prejudice adapted by Christoper Baker. Costumes are encouraged.

Tour-goers must be 21 or older. Infant-wearing is welcome - the tour path through our manufacturing plant is not suitable for young children or strollers.
Guests who are not drinking beer can purchase a Designated Driver ticket and will have a choice of NA beverage.

NPR’S Noah Adams narrates this planetarium program about the history and astronomy of the holiday season. What are the origins of the solstice festivals and Santa Claus? Why do we celebrate New Year’s Day on January 1st? What is the history of Hanukkah? “Season of Light” explores the rich and beautiful history of our holiday traditions.
We provide the great soloists, musicians and the cozy environment of Bistro La Cave on the Camden waterfront. You sing the Chorus parts to Part One of The Messiah by Georg Frederich Handel. Scores are available. We rehearse the piece at 1 PM and perform about 3 PM. You are also welcome to sit and listen. This event is free to the public but we depend on your generous donations to continue. There is bar service and a French themed menu after we finish. A Maine holiday tradition. Don't miss it!

Participants will be guided through jewelry-making basics, from selecting materials, tool use, and safety to cutting and shaping metal to oxidizing and soldering pieces. Make up to four sets of earrings from scratch--textured studs, silver hoops, hammered brass, and torch-fired enamel copper. This course has a $35 materials fee, including handouts to re-create your favorites at home, earring cards, and boxes for gift giving. Beginner level.
$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $35 materials fee is paid to the instructor at the beginning of the workshop.
(For safety, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.)
We will have a 20-minute break, so feel free to bring a snack.
Laura's workshops are open to teens ages 13 and up when accompanied by a parent.
About the instructor: Laura Jamison of LJ Studios Metalsmith is an instructor from New Hampshire.
