Gorham Woman Charged in Double-Fatal Crash Ordered Held on Bail

BRIDGTON, Maine — A Gorham woman who was driving when her car crashed, killing her 16-year-old son and her boyfriend, has been ordered held on $20,000 bail on charges of manslaughter and operating under the influence of intoxicants.

Thirty-five-year-old Candice Tucker pleaded not guilty Wednesday to the charges.

Police say Tucker was speeding and trying to pass another vehicle when she struck a tree in October in Bridgton.

The Portland Press Herald reported Tucker, 35-year-old Eric Morey of Portland and her son Branden Denis had been visiting friends and family, spending part of the day around a bonfire. She told a family member she was distracted by her son in the back seat.

Attorney Amanda Doherty said she was appointed to represent Tucker just for Wednesday. Doherty had no further comment.
